In a unanimous decision, a Liberty County jury awarded over $4.3 million to the family of a deceased Martin Marietta employee. The employee was killed in a worksite accident while performing maintenance on a conveyor belt carrying crushed stone from an underground pit. The jury found Martin Marietta to be 100% negligent and grossly negligent, and awarded punitive damages to the family. Trial evidence included false reporting by the company to OSHA.
